Overview of Sikkim

The beautiful state has already found its glory among other tourism wonders and it’s really popular among tourist. It has also been named as the top place to visit by several travel magazines. Sikkim is a very diverse state with several cultivating cultures which co exists to make the place a living heaven with surrounding, which is too beautiful to be true.

The Sikkim draws its name from a Tibetan word ‘Denjong’ which means the secret valley of Rice’. The actual inhabitants were actually the Lepchas and Bhutias but were later populated with Tibetans, Nepali and some other diverge cultures that makes Sikkim so beautiful. The state is divided into North, South, East and West which are also its districts. The North having it’s headquarter in Mangan, East in Gangtok, South in Namchi and West in Geyzing. Sikkim is really beautiful inside out and has several wonders and high altitude lakes that are in every traveler’s checklist.

PLACES TO VISIT

Tsomgo Lake

Tsomgo Lake which is located around 38 km away from the capital city of Gangtok. It is one of the most magnificent places that is in Sikkim. We warn you that the place can be really chilling sometimes and requires you to carry some warm clothes along.

Nathula Pass

Nathula is the high altitude pass where India with China share borders. The pass, stands at an altitude of around 14,140 ft above sea level and is the route of the heritage silk route that helped carry out age old trade.

Zuluk

One of the best offbeat tourist places within Sikkim, Zuluk is a small hamlet located at a high altitude and was the route where the trades of the Silk Route went from. It has a snaky swirling road that looks heavenly when covered in snow. It provides great views of the snowcapped mountain and is a fabulous place to visit for witnessing snowfall in Sikkim.

Gangtok

Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim and has packed excitements for tourists here. Along with being centrally located to most tourist places it is also filled with exciting options to do after dark. It is the place that people step in during their Sikkim visit.

Pelling

Namchi

Namchi is another perfect place within Sikkim that is blessed with fresh air and beautiful aroma of the surrounding forests. The beautiful sight of snowcapped mountains and mountain valleys are sights that are silently peaceful and replenishes your soul from within.

Ravangla

This beautiful place has slowly peaked its way to becoming a must visit place inside Sikkim due to its unmatchable floral and green beauty that it holds. The Buddha park here is one of the primary attractions that drives many tourist here. The freshness of the town and the sights from here is splendid.

Yuksom

Yuksom is an old historic town in west Sikkim which was also the first capital of Sikkim declared by the first Chogyal of Sikkim. Drop in here for some peaceful time among the beautiful Himalayan ranges and the scenic mountains that surrounds. It is also a good location for hiking and trekking activities.
